Comme chaque année, les Eisner Awards, qui sont en quelque sorte l'équivalent des First Print Awards mais aux États-Unis (ça va, c'est une blague, détendez-vous), viendront récompenser le meilleur de la bande dessinée américaine. Les oscars des comics seront récompensés pendant la prochaine édition de la San Diego Comic Con et en attendant, la longue liste des nominations a été dévoilée. Plutôt que de vous la copier/coller telle qu'elle, nous avons pris le soin comme nous en avons l'habitude d'aller vous indiquer quels sont parmi tous les albums nommés ceux qui sont d'ores et déjà disponibles en VF - et ceux qui le seront bientôt, à l'aune de nos connaissances sur le sujet. De quoi vous faire quelques listes de lecteurs d'ici l'annonce des résultats.
Félicitations à nos artistes français !
Plusieurs choses peuvent être constatées sur les résultats au global. D'une part, la prédominance de DC Comics parmi les éditeurs ayant le plus de nominations (directes ou indirectes) sur cette sélection des Eisner Awards, avec 16 nominations au compteur (et 10 autres partagées), suivi d'Image Comics avec 12 nomiations (et 9 partagées), Fantagraphics avec 14 nominations sans partager quoique ce soit, et Abrams avec 9 nominations. Parmi les maisons d'édition dont on peut retrouver les travaux publiés en France, on peut également compter IDW/Top Shelf (5 nominations et 8 partagées), Dark Horse (4 nominations et 4 partagées)... tandis que Marvel ne compte que 3 nominations (et 5 partagées). L'écart entre les deux représentants des Big Two est encore plus criant qu'au fil des dernières années, et ce n'est sûrement pas pour rien que l'on entend également parler de DC Comics repasser en première place des ventes mensuelles de single issues - certes bien aidées par Absolute Batman, mais pas seulement. Quant à l'éditeur français le plus représenté pour ses propres publications, il s'agit de Dargaud (4 nominations).
Mais l'autre point sur lequel nous souhaitons aussi nous arrêter est l'importance d'auteurs et autrices français dans les nominations en dehors de la section des "meilleure édition américaine d'une BD étrangère", dans laquel on a toujours tendance retrouver au moins un album venu de l'hexagone (Blacksad y est par exemple souvent invité). On remarque les multiples nominations du très bon franco-sénégalais Juni Ba, ainsi que celles d'Elsa Charretier, de Ludo Lullabi, d'Alexandre Tefenkgi et de Fabrice Sapolski qui animent forcément un petit sentiment de fierté. Mais dans l'ensemble, le nombre d'artiste espagnols, italiens et britanniques montrent bien que la bande dessinée américaine sait aussi tirer ses forces du talent des auteurs, autrices et artistes du vieux continent.
Pour ce qui est des titres les plus nommés, on notera que Absolute Martian Manthunter compte pour lui six nominations au total, Absolute Batman 5, Assorted Crisis of Events 5 également, Department of Truth 4, Drome 3 et A Garden of Spheres 3 - et seul le dernier est pour le moment inédit en France, tous les autres étant publiés ou en voie d'être publiés par chez nous. On notera que Jeff the Landshark reçoit aussi deux nominations, on dit ça, on ne dit rien...
Du côté des créateurices, on voit que l'année est très bonne pour Deniz Camp (nommé 5 fois), aux côtés d'un James Tynion IV habitué des nominations (4 fois cette année), suivi de Juni Ba (3 nominations), Javier Rodriguez (3), Jesse Lonergan (3), Linnea Sterte (3), Kelly Thompson (3) et Eric Zawadski (3).
