Au moment d'annoncer les premiers titres de l'enseigne Black Label, DC Comics listait quelques projets s'intéressant prioritairement aux personnages de sa fameuse trinité. D'abord Batman : Damned, qui aura péniblement vu le jour et heurté les pénibles réalités tapies derrière la promesse de "séries pour adultes", puis Batman : Last Knight on Earth, moins rocambolesque, le Superman : Year One de Frank Miller et Wonder Woman Historia : The Amazons de Kelly Sue DeConnick et Phil Jimenez.
